week 4 of the sermon series: “The Effective Life”
When Peter spoke of knowledge, he was telling us to follow in his own footsteps and be a disciple of Jesus. This involves 3 steps.
- I will Follow You -a personal step. Colossians 2;3; MATTHEW 4:18-20; Matthew 11:28-30
- Adding knowledge begins when you leave the shoreline of your own purposes and become a disciple of the Savior.
- I will Study You -a thoughtful step. Ezra 7:10; 2 Peter 3:1-2; 1 Peter 2:2
- It’s not possible to add knowledge to your goodness if you neglect to study Scripture.
- I will Obey You -a behavioral step. Galatians 5:22-23
- You simply cannot acquire the knowledge of God without changing your personality, your behavior, your values, and your habits in life.
TRUTH: The essence of discipleship: Following, Studying, and Obeying Jesus.
