Jonah 4:1—11
If what we believe is true, what we believe is of the utmost importance, then we can’t help but talk about it. Are you on Mission with God?
Jonah’s disease is 2-fold:
- Jonah is an idolater: Jonah 2:8 Idolatry is when you build your identity on something besides God. When you build your identity on anything other than how God feels about you, you are an idolater. Idolatry is when you desire something more than God.
- Jonah is ignorant of the grace God has extended toward him. Jonah 4:2. Jonah probably saw his sin & Nineveh’s sin in 2 different categories. Unforgiveness & a lack of generosity are an indication you are out of touch with God’s grace. Psalm 115:4–8
The book of Jonah ends with a question because the book is a question for people like Jonah. It’s a question for you: What do you care most about? Why do we have so much passion for things that really don’t matter & so little for the things that actually do? Do we get it?
Are you engaged, heart and soul, in the mission of God? Is it possible to be close our God’s heart without also being close to His mission?
