Week 2: Living Like Jesus
People can believe they believe something that they may not actually believe.
The truth is that beliefs that have no connection to reality, even if they’re sincere, aren’t beliefs at all; they’re delusions.
Following Jesus is what happens when our lives align with what we say we believe about Him.
Love Defined 1 John 2:3-17
- Children—commencement of the Christian life
- Young Men—conflict in the Christian life
- Fathers—Consummation of the Christian life
Living as Jesus:
- Is walking as He walked (1 John 2:3-6).
- Is living in the light (1 John 2:7-11).
- Is being infused with the Word (1 John 2:12-14).
- Is remaining forever (1 John 2:15-17)
Love for the World (1 John 2:15-17)
- Dissipates our energies
- Deletes our resources
- Demands our time
- Diverts our minds and hearts
Jesus sets the tone for who we are to love and how we are to love.
Love Demonstrated Matthew 22:34-40
- Man of Character – Persevere in Love in Times of Testing or Triumph (Matthew 22:34-36)
- Man of Action –Show Love for God with Passion and Praise (Matthew 22:37-38)
- Man of Courage – Love with an All-In Attitude and Encourage Others (Matthew 22:39-40)
Love is the grand secret of true obedience to God.
Love is the grand secret of right behavior towards our fellow men.
