God is trying to tell a story through us. The family exists, even in its imperfection, to display the heart of God to every generation.
Deuteronomy 6:1-12.
Principle #1: Widen the Circle by Pursuing Strategic Relationships. (Deuteronomy 6:4a) Moses is speaking to all of Israel about the importance of families passing on their faith to the next generation.
QUESTION: What are you doing to encourage godly relationships with people outside your home?
Priority #2: Imagine the End by Focusing your priorities on what matters most. (Deuteronomy 6:4b)
It really doesn’t matter what our kids know if they don’t know what really matters.
Exodus 20:3-5. When it comes to the battle for the heart, what is temporary has a way of crowding out was is eternal. Moses is simply saying, “Stay focused. Don’t forget who your God is.”
Moses knew that keeping the Hebrew family’s focus on God would affirm its identity & shape its destiny. When we imagine the end, it enables us to distinguish more clearly between what matters and what matters most.
