Series: Why Everyone Needs Selah. Week 3: Why Selah when the Future is Uncertain
Psalm 3:1-8.
Many of us are waiting for our circumstances to change before we find peace, but God often changes us before He changes our situation.
When the future feels uncertain, pause and remember that the God who started your story is still writing it.
- Selah Helps You Call on God Boldly (Psalm 3:7)
- Selah reminds us that prayer is not informing God about our problems. Prayer is inviting God into our problems.
- Faith-filled people pray boldly because they know God personally.
- Faith doesn’t reduce God’s ability to act. Faith recognizes it.
- 2. Selah Helps You Trust God to Fight Battles You Can’t (Psalm 3:7)
- David Refuses to Become His Own Savior.
- You don’t have to win every battle because God hasn’t assigned every battle to you.
- Selah teaches us to stop fighting God’s battles & start trusting God’s power.
- Selah Helps You Rest in God’s Sovereignty (Psalm 3:8)
- Salvation belongs to the Lord.
- God is not merely the helper of our salvation. He is the source of it. The owner of it. The author of it. The finisher of it.
- The future isn’t resting on your shoulders. It’s resting in God’s hands.
- Selah Helps You Bless Others Even in Your Battle (Psalm 3:8)
- Pain often narrows our focus. Suffering can make us self-centered. Trials can tempt us toward bitterness.
- Selah expands our perspective.
- Selah teaches us that faith is never just about surviving. It’s about serving.
Selah reminds us:
- When fear is loud, pause & remember God is greater.
- When God feels far, pause & remember God is still near.
- When the future is uncertain, pause & remember God is still sovereign.
