Week 5: The Lie—Your Feelings Are Reality
The lie: “Your feelings are reality.”
SATAN DISTORTS GOD’S WORD (Genesis 3:1–5).
Satan’s First Move Is Not Open Rebellion but Subtle Reinterpretation.
- He exaggerates God’s restriction: Genesis 3:1.
- He minimizes God’s warning: Genesis 3:4.
- He questions God’s goodness: Genesis 3:5.
Satan wants you to define reality by emotion, not revelation.
SIN MAKES FEELINGS FEEL LIKE FACTS (Genesis 3:6).
Feelings are indicators, not dictators.
SHAME SENDS US INTO HIDING (Genesis 3:7–10)
Shame promises protection but produces isolation.
SIN BLAMES, BUT GOD CONFRONTS IN MERCY (Genesis 3:11–13).
Sin fractures communion with God & community with one another.
GOD JUDGES SIN & PROMISES A SAVIOR (Genesis 3:14–19).
GOD COVERS WHAT WE CAN’T (Genesis 3:20–21).
The God who confronts them also clothes them.
We need God to clothe us in Christ’s righteousness.
EXILE IS NOT THE END OF THE STORY (Genesis 3:22–24).
God prevents humanity from living forever in a fallen state.
WHAT DO WE DO WHEN FEELINGS ROAR?
What you feel is not all that is real.
Let the Word of God interpret your feelings instead of letting your feelings reinterpret the Word.

Jesus Christ is more real than anything you feel.
